Implications of Facial Mapping on Acne

Why does it seem that breakouts seem to reappear in the same spot every time? For thousands of years Chinese facial mapping has looked at how the skin can is a reflection of what is going on inside our bodies. According to face mapping, different flare ups of acne in certain locations have various causes associated with our organ systems.

As always, nothing can replace a regular skincare routine but just keep in mind that some of those breakouts can be treated from the inside out.

T-zone

Breakouts around the forehead area indicate that your body is under stress of some kind. To help counter the stress try exercising more and getting not only more but quality rest.

Pimples popping up between your eyebrows or nose area are associated with irregularities in the kidney, stomach, or spleen. Try reducing alcohol and smoking and upping your water, fruit and vegetable intake — focusing on foods that are high in fiber.

Cheeks

The cheeks may represent an imbalance in your liver and lungs. Try increasing your cardio routine and avoiding spicy foods.
Breakouts around the nose may be due to an imbalance of the small intestine. One easy fix try room temperature beverages over ice cold drinks.

It’s also important to keep in mind that acne occurring on the cheeks might be caused by dirt from your cellphone or pillowcases. So, make sure to frequently wipe down your phone after use and regularly wash your linens.

Jaw Line

Acne along the temple and down to the jaw area are associated with an imbalance in the large intestine or colon. Relieve this imbalance by upping your fruits and vegetables intake.

Chin

Pimples that occur around the lips and lower chin area are typically related to the spleen, digestive system, or kidneys. This is also the signature zone for stress and hormonal changes. Help minimize these effects by getting adequate sleep, drinking more water, eating leafy veggies and keeping skin scrupulously clean. Another interesting point: breakouts in this area indicate when you are ovulating (and on which side).
