The Battle with Cystic Acne

Combatting Cystic Acne with Agnes RF Microneedling at EvolvMD MedSpa in Milwaukee, WiBattling cystic acne can be a long process with some cystic acne camping out for years.  It’s often embarrassing, effecting not only your outward appearance, but your self-esteem and confidence.  For years, effective cystic acne treatments did not exist, but when Accutane was introduced that changed.

Accutane was an effective treatment and seemed like a miracle for those with untreatable cystic acne.  But it was also linked to number of negative side effects from liver problems to depression, birth defects and more.

The Alternative to Accutane to Treat Systemic Cystic Acne

In the past, finding an effective non-toxic alternative to Accutane was a daunting task.  Over-the-counter medications and non-chemical options typically did not remedy the underlying issue.  For patients with cystic acne treating the root cause is just as important to keep acne from recurring. Enter, Agnes Radiofrequency Microneedling (Agnes RF).

Agnes RF launched as a revolutionary treatment for cystic acne. Not only is a non-chemical alterative, but it also treats the core problem that causes cystic acne.

How Does Agnes RF  Treat Cystic Acne?

Agnes RF uses microneedles to deliver a combination of radiofrequency energy and heat, targeting sebaceous oil glands that cause cystic acne. Targeting the sebaceous oil glands leads to a reduction in pore size and the elimination of the gland that causes the acne.

Non-Surgical, Effective, Safe, Minimal Downtime

Agnes is one of the most effective non-surgical and non-chemical treatments available because it delivers precise, controlled energy.  It is localized and safe.  There is minimal downtime and the cystic acne is treated without scarring.  Accutane patients are likely to see clear, cystic-free skin, but they are often left with scars.

How Can I Treat Acne Scarring?

When a patient comes to us with acne scarring, we use a combination of treatments. Every patient is treated based on their individual needs, but if  there is active cystic acne, we will likely treat it with Agnes, followed by a series of chemical peels to address lighten the appearance of scars and melasma. We also use the Forever Young BBL Photofacial to target dark spots and brighten skin, and Sylfirm X RF Microneedling  and/or  Microneedling Rejuvapen NXT to improve overall skin health, tone and texture.

Holistic Approach to Treating Acne

Before starting a treatment plan for cystic acne, we work directly with each patient to understand their lifestyle and life stage, identifying outside factors that could be contributing to the exacerbation of acne flare-ups.  We look at hormonal changes, potentials hormonal imbalances, stress, and diet. We discuss everything from sugar, water, and fat intake to any major life-changes causing undue stress on the body.
